Sniper rifles are evolving day by day, in parallel with the developing technology, so that they can shoot more precisely at longer range.

In the light of advances in weapon systems, modern battlefield requirements and the new concepts and doctrines that created, the US Army continues its weapons procurement processes. In this context, the 3rd Infantry Division, which was affiliated to the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, received the new generation semi-automatic sniper weapons last month. Qualified as SDMR (Squad Designated Marksman Rifle), the system was developed on the Heckler & Koch product G28E-110. The weapon, which was developed to fill the capability gap arising from the lack of weapon capable of shooting at targets between 300 and 600 meters, fires 7.62×51 mm NATO ammunition.

The weapon, which equipped wtih a bipod, adjustable buttstock and an advanced trigger mechanism, as well as an adjustable zoom scope, will serve with the M110A1 name. The M110A1, equipped with control interfaces similar to the M4 / M16 family rifles, has an M-Lock handguard allows attaching laser pointers, flashlights and other equipment, so that the trigger, pistol grip and lever structure that reduce the user's training requirements. The rifle weighs 3.99 kilograms without accessories and can uses 10 or 20-round transparent polymer magazine. Many components have been specially selected to keep the weight low in the rifle, which equipped with MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail on the receiver that allows the integration of different optics and electro-optics.
