A series of flight trials as part of the Phase 3 Enhancement (P3E) package for Eurofighter Typhoon has been successfully completed, according to BAE Systems. The tests included Aero Data Gathering (ADG) flights to test how the addition of the Brimstone weapon and other assets interacts with the aircraft’s flight control system software. The low-collateral, high precision MBDA Brimstone air-to-surface weapon will provide the Typhoons with the ability to high precision engagement to fast-moving targets. The Phase 3 Enhancement (P3E) package will also see further sensor and mission system upgrades as part of Project CENTURION, a transition programme of Tornado capabilities on to Typhoon aircraft.
