MBDA Missile Systems released a statement on Wednesday that an F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter aircraft has for the first time test fired an Advanced Short Range Air-to-Air Missile (ASRAAM). This also marks the first time a non-US weapon has been fired from the aircraft.
MBDA was awarded a contract in 2016, to produce the infrared (IR) guided air-to-air missile for the UK’s F-35s and the development trials are being carried out under the integration programme of ASRAAM.
