Developed by the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (Makina ve Kimya Endüstrisi Kurumu/ MKEK), the 105 mm Boran Air Portable Light Towed Howitzer entered the service of the Turkish Armed Forces. MKEK announced the news via social media.

Boran was developed to be used in TSK’s internal security and air assault operations and to provide fire support to commando brigades.

Boran, which can be transported by Sikorsky S-70 helicopter, can shoot effectively at a distance of 17 km with long-range ammunition.

With a weight of 1720 kg and a diameter of 105 mm and a 30-caliber barrel, Boran has a rise angle of -3/+70 degrees and the ability to shoot to the right and left eight degrees.
