Arleigh Burke Fleet Growing

Ingalss Shipbuilding which is a part of Huntington Ingalss Industries has launched the newest Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer of US Navy. Ship is christened as Frank E. Petersen Jr with DDG121 pennant number. Ingalls delivered a total of 30 Arleigh Burke class destroyers before. Ingalls has already building Paul Ignatus (DDG117), Lenah H. Sutcliffe Higbee (DDG123) and Jack H. Lucas (DDG125) on their sleds.

The Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer is the backbone of the US Navy and are also base ship to Aegis combat system. Displacement of the 154-meter-long destroyers can reach 9,200 tons depending on the variant. Vessels equipped with advanced electronic systems and also have 90 to 96 VLS, depending on their variant.
