Pacific Fleet’s New Corvette

The Russian Defence Ministry announced that Project 20380 corvette Aldar Tsydenzhapov has completed state tests.

On July 16, the Amur Shipyard delivered the platform for government tests. Aldar Tsydenzhapov used a Uran cruise missile against a naval target 25 miles away on the first day of firing tests. The corvette, which was also tested in the Sea of Japan for testing of air defence weapons, made more than 10 exits to the sea to test systems.

Construction of Aldar Tsydenzhapov began in July 2015.

The displacement of the corvette is about 2,000 tons and the speed is 27 knots. Ka-27 helicopters can be deployed at the platform, while the number of crew members of the ship is 99.

The Russian essay makes reference to the stealth properties of the corvette, stating that its construction is incorporating “radio absorption materials and specially designing the ship’s hull and superstructure,”
