Russia announced a new acceptance test, which will be launched next December. Tests will be carried out for 2S25M Sprut-SDM1. Vehicle is developed for Russian Airborne Troops. An official from the Russian Army announced that the tests will start in December 2018 and will continue throughout 2019. If the tests are successful, the first vehicle will be delivered in 2020.

2S25M Sprut-SDM1 is an improved model of the Sprut-SDs. Vehicle was introduced in 2016. The vehicle’s mission definition is tank destroyer in Russian army and can be transported via Il-76 aircraft. Equipped with a 125 mm 2A75M gun and two machine guns, the platform can be airdropped while the crew is inside. The vehicle was developed from the BMD-4 in line with the need of Russian airborne troops.6
