Italy-based arms manufacturer Beretta signed an arms production agreement with the Romanian company's Plopeni Mechanic Plant (Societatea Uzina Mecanica Plopeni), a subsidiary of Romanian state defence association Romarm. Thus, Romania has gained the ability to produce ARX-160 infantry rifles.
According to Romanian Economy Minister Niculae Badalau, the ARX-160 and another rifle will be produced in Romania. The minister, who announced that a joint subsidiary will be established with 80% of the Romanian side, and that the company will make production, did not give more details about the agreement.
