After 13 soldiers were killed in Nigeria last week, the Armed Forces launched a large-scale operation in the north-east of the country.
Images released from the operation “Tura Takai Bango” showed the use of a Chinese-made NORINCO VT-4 tank, ST1 armoured vehicle and SH5 105-mm bead-powered artillery systems.
The VT-4, developed by China as an export variant of the MBT-3000 tank, was thus operationalized on the battlefield for the first time.
The VT-4 is said to have a 125 mm main weapon. The platform can also be equipped with a guided missile 9K119 Reflex with a range of up to 5 km. This missile is produced under license in China.
