February 20, 2018US to Spend $10 Billion on Modernization of B61s
The US plans to spend more than $10 billion on the modernization of B61 nuclear bombs deployed throughout Turkey, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
According to a report by Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), 150 bombs are currently deployed in Turkey and some other European countries and one-third of the weapons are placed in Turkey's Incirlik Base. The NTI report said it “should be assumed that they are targets for terrorism and theft”.
