The Joint Strike Fighter Operational Test Team (JOTT) recently completed testing to determine whether all three variants of the F-35 are suitable and able to operate in extreme cold weather in Alaska. The tests were conducted at Eielson Air Force Base which the aircraft will be stationed. 

The US Air Force (USAF) said in a statement that the trails also provided a chance for testing the F-35s in a cold weather environment before Initial Operational Testing & Evaluation (IOT&E) which is scheduled to formally start in the fall of 2018.
