According to British media reports, the British Ministry of Defence intends to “use the same Turkish and Israeli-made military equipment that Azerbaijan obtained during the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.”
The Guardian wrote that London has launched a new programme to develop armed reconnaissance and offensive drones. The programme will include the development of a platform “similar to Bayraktar UAV”, which has a high impact on the battlefield.
Funding for the project is aimed to take effect from 2021, within the framework of a five-year military budget. Defence Minister Ben Wallace has signalled that London will make some changes to its defence budget.
In a speech at the Royal Institute of Armed Forces, Wallace emphasized that Turkey’s use of air defence systems such as Bayraktar TB2 in Syria, Libya and other regions has been a significant success in the conflict.
Wallace also underlined that Britain is not innovating enough in defence technologies and stated that Turkish drones have the capacity to give the “enemy a hard time”.
