Truck-mounted howitzer systems are becoming more popular in the international market thanks to being cost-effective solutions and mobility.

China continues to modernize and expand its inventory with the platforms it has developed both with its original and reverse engineering methods. In the images published recently, it was determined that the China People's Liberation Army took active use of PCL-181 truck-mounted howitzers in the Eastern Theatre.

Described as one of the most modern artillery systems developed by the country, the platform consists of AH-2 52 caliber 155 mm howitzer, which is mounted on a 6×6 truck. The howitzer also in the export market under the name SH-15 was introduced for the first time in 2017. PCL-181 has components such as computerized fire control system, navigation, positioning and targeting systems. In this way, the combat weight of the vehicles that are suitable for the task as a battery or independently is about 25 tons. The effective range of the platforms, which can shoot four to six rounds per minute, has 50 kilometres effective range. PCL-181 propelled by a diesel engine and can reach 90 km/h. The vehicle has 600 km of operational range.
