Third Sub On Its Way

Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has held a steel-cutting ceremony for the Republic of Korea's third KSS-III submarine, according to Defence Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announcement on 30 June. The vessel will be the first KSS-III submarine built by HHI. 

The first steel cutting ceremony of the first KSS-III heavy diesel-electric submarine, due to be launched in 2018, took place in November 2014, at DSME Geoje shipyard and the second sub also under construction by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).
