India will conduct the last test-fire of its 155 mm howitzer, Dhanush, next month before its induction into Indian Army. Developed based on Bofors design, Dhanush has a range of 38 km, 10 km more than Bofors. Following the completion of all the tests, the first batch of 18 Dhanush howitzers are expected to be delivered to the Army for induction in 2017-18. Indian Army has an order of 114 howitzers and upon the clearance of the first 18, the manufacturer Gun Carriage Factory (GCF) will continue production of the remaining 96.
