Tempest Program to Catch Industry 4.0

The “smart factory” built for the Tempest programme, the next generation fighter jet operated by the UK with bae systems, Rolls-Royce, MBDA and Leonardo subsidiary, has been announced.

The new factory, which will be located at BAE Systems' plant in Lancashire, aims to include virtual and increased reality in production. In addition to achieving a cost-effective solution with the new structure, the company says it will facilitate the production of coercive military aircraft components.

The factory, where the production process is planned to be completely digitized with robot technology, will create an environment where human and artificial intelligence will work together.

UAE said the technologies within the factory are already benefiting. Developed in collaboration with SMEs and universities, the smart workstation is also used on the Eurofighter Typhoon production line.
