Taiwan Ready for Serial Production to Set Up Reconnaissance Squadron

At the year-end press conference for Taiwan’s National Chungshan Institute of Science and Technology, President Tsai Ing-wen announced that the Teng Yun medium-altitude long-endurance UAV (MALE UAV) is ready for production. Tengyun is installed with an electronic interference system that upgrades the drone's military strategic value from surveillance equipment to a multi-functional jamming device, capable of interfering enemies’ electronic surveillance systems.

Tengyun UAV has a length of about 8 meters, a wingspan of about 18 meters long, can fly at high altitudes with an endurance of up to 24 hours.

Taiwan Air Force will for the first time set up an unmanned aerial vehicle reconnaissance squadron and is currently estimated to purchase 10 to 20 Tengyun UAVs.
