Taiwan Considers Reform Against China Threat

Taiwan will restructure its reserve military power, which is created for use if needed. Taiwan's government, which wants to know about the practices in the world, will send military delegations to many countries for this purpose. Military experts in the country will make a week's visit to Israel between July and September next year.

A delegation will also be sent to Germany and Belgium next year as part of an eight-day “international security cooperation and research” programme.

President Tsai Ing-wen said he would reform his country's military and reserve forces after his re-election in January; Taiwan's Defence Ministry also proposed a change in reserve powers that would be key to the country's defences.

Seeking to increase its military strength, Taiwan has gone up 10% in the defence budget. Taiwan's government says Chinese planes and warships frequently violate the country's airspace and territorial waters.
