Thales has been awarded a contract for its SpyRanger unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by French government on 21 December, 2016. The company plans to deliver the UAVs by the end of 2019. The $108.8 million contract covers 35 systems initially with a further 35 under option and the maintenance of the drones for 10 years. The Spy'Ranger mini UAV can perform observation missions over a period of 2 hours 30 minutes, covering a range of 30 kms.
