Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) have been eliminated in the US' next-generation jet engine training aircraft tender. According to Kokpit.aero's news dated 4 September, the three designs selected to compete in the US Air Force's tender are Boeing and Swedish Saab, Lockheed Martin and South Korea's KAI and Italian Leonardo's. Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) owned by Turkish businessmen Fatih and Eren Özmen and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) design however was not shortlisted.
The new plane's cockpit concept will have features common to the designs of next-generation aircraft such as the F-22 and F-35. A decision is expected to be announced by the end of the year and then the negotiations will begin.
