United Technologies Corp. (UTC) and Rockwell Collins announced on 4 September that they have reached a definitive agreement under which United Technologies will acquire Rockwell Collins for $30 billion. Rockwell Collins, a renowned supplier for avionics, flight controls, aircraft interior and data connectivity solutions for military and civil customers, produces electronics and avionics for the F-35 fighter jet.

Under the deal, the companies said that Rockwell Collins and UTC’s aerospace systems segment will be combined to create a new business unit named Collins Aerospace Systems. The transaction is expected to close by the third quarter of 2018.
