Israel Navy decided to equip its new Sa’ar-6 corvettes with twice as many Iron Dome interceptors as initially planned. A senior navy officer said in the face of growing Lebanon-based Hizbollah threat, the service were adding another Iron Dome launcher on the Sa’ar-6 and each vessel would be armed with two Iron Dome launchers. A single launcher, he added, was capable of firing as many as 20 Tamir intercepting missiles.
Israel is to receive the first Sa'ar 6 by the end of 2019 or early 2020.
