Second F125 Commissioned

Germany continues its procurement efforts as part of the modernization of the Navy and its reinforcement with new platforms.

Berlin commissioned the second of the F125 class frigate developed in the context of the modern battlefield requirements of the German Navy (Deustche Marine) with an official ceremony. FGS Nordrhein-Westfalen (F223) has actually started to duty in the German Navy inventory with a small-scale ceremony held under virus measures.

Built under the main contractor of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) Shipyard, the F125s are also known as the Baden-Württemberg class. Building activities of the ship carrying out at the Lürssen Shipyard stationed in Bremen. The final integration, testing, stern components building and commissioning processes of the ships are being carried out at the Blohm + Voss Shipyard's facilities in Hamburg, Some system integration activities are completed in Bremen and Wolgast.

Full displacement of 149 meters long F125 class frigates are 7,200 tons. The platforms, which can reach a maximum speed of 26+ knots, contain about 28,000 sensors.
