Saudi Arabia revealed its 2017 defence budget as $50,9 billion (SAR190.9 billion) which indicates a 6,6 percent increase in initial budget for military expenditure when compared to fiscal year 2016. The government announced the budget statement on 22 December, saying that it includes new projects and supports the expansion of existing ones, including equipment, installations, weaponry, ammunition, and facilities required to boost military, institution, and housing capabilities.
