According to local sources, India’s indigenious Astra air-to-air missile has to undergo only four more trials before it is handed over to Indian Air Force. Astra missile project was initially planned to be completed in August 2012, however later delayed until December 2016. Although 12 tests were succesfully conducted, the project is still not concluded. India’s Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) plans to finalize the remaining tests before summer this year. The missile was first launched in May 2014 from a Su-30MKI aircraft.
