SAMP/T Signiture in the Centre of NATO

Turkey, which has been criticized by the US and NATO Secretary General for supplying Russia's S-400 air defence system, has made a strategic move in this area. Turkish Minister of National Defence Nurettin Canikli, French Defence Minister Florence Parly and Italian Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti signed a goodwill agreement on cooperation in air defence in NATO's “Capital” Brussels.

The signatures of the three countries are based on strengthening co-operation in the joint production of air and missile defence systems. In this context, the development of defence industry cooperation will be supported regarding military electronic systems, software and simulation systems and communications equipment, including technological cooperation. As the first step in the collaboration of the three countries, they will work on a system based on the SAMP/T system. For this, EUROSAM consortium formed by French and Italian companies and Turkish companies will carry out an analysis. Common needs of signatory countries will be determined in the future.
