Among the shortlisted Tornado replacements, Germany most likely to choose Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), according to a senior German Air Force official. The official said that the F-35 already fulfils most of the requirements of German Air Force replacing its Tornados in the 2025 to 2030 time frame and that it offers a number of other advantages. Also, as F-35s are commercially available already, the predetermined replacement time frame would be easier to comply with.
