An image of Russia’s new laser weapon system based on the BAZ chassis, thought to be at the NPO Advent company’s facility in St. Petersburg, was shared on social media this morning.
According to the country’s media, a chemical oxygen-iodine laser was used in the system and was designed to detect and destroy air targets at a distance of up to 5km.
While there is no official information yet on the launch of the systems, a diagram has been published on NPO Advent’s website about the layout and functionality of the complexes in the style indicated.
The name of the platform has not yet been released by official sources.
