Russian Breeze on 5th Generation

India decided to continue with Russia to studies on the Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft Project.

Preliminary design work began with Russian United Aircraft Corporation (UAC-United Aircraft Company) in 2010 and the cost of phase which US $ 250 million was shared equally between the two countries.

India is planning to procure 108 units from the Fifth Generation Planes. The planes will be developed and produced by HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) with the Russian cooperation. Work-sharing in the development process of the aircraft has not yet been decided between the two countries. Technology transfering issue constitutes the most important issue of the negotiations.

The development phase of the aircraft, which India wants to equip with same as PAK-FA engines, is expected to complete 8 to 10 years. Project cost is planned to be 5 billion US Dollars.
