Russia wants to establish a military base in six African countries: Egypt, the Central African Republic, Eritrea, Madagascar, Mozambique and Sudan, German newspaper Bild reported.Â
Documents released by the German Foreign Ministry showed that Russia has reached a military cooperation agreement with 21 African countries since 2015. The documents said Russia sometimes trains the security forces of countries where it makes formal and sometimes secret agreements. It was also reported that the Kremlin had invited African countries to train its troops at Russian facilities.Â
According to German experts, Moscow aims to achieve political, economic and military gains in Africa through Russian security firms.
