Rheinmetall Speeds Delivery to the Bundeswehr

Rheinmetall took another step forward in the supply of ballistic helmets for the German army. Due to the changing security situation in Europe, on 6th December 2022, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht officially received the pieces of military clothing and equipment ordered by the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces).

Among the equipment is a new ballistic helmet supplied by Rheinmetall. In November 2020, the Bundeswehr placed Rheinmetall’s first order for an advanced helmet. The agreement covers the delivery of up to 20.000 “Special Forces, Heavy Ballistic Helmets”. The first call for 5.000 helmets was made in the same month. The helmets were initially available to special operations forces and specialist units with expanded base capability to conduct special operations and to equip NATO’s VJTF 2023 force. In March 2022, the Bundeswehr significantly expanded its order. The new ballistic helmet model is now designated “Ballistic Helmet, Armed Forces”. The total value of the order exceeds 200 million Euros, while the following order will be supplied to the German army in 2022-2025. It includes 300.000 helmets.

Rheinmetall had successfully completed the official qualification of the helmet and the quality control of the first three batches of subsequent supplies. Nearly 34.000 helmets have been supplied since 2020. By the end of the year, 11.000 more helmets are expected to reach the troops.
