The Ukrainian Armed Forces received BMP-1AK infantry fighting vehicles. The BMP-1AKs were modernized by Wtorplast in Poland. Unknown number of BMP-1 had structural modernization and received the name BMP-1AK (Anti-Kumulativnaya / HEAT Protected). After the modernization, the first party vehicles were delivered to Ukraine.
BMP-1AK is a special variant of Soviet-produced BMP-1 vehicles. It the has a 73 millimeter low-recoil gun and a 7.62 millimeter co-axial machine gun as in the standard version BMP-1 vehicles. With modernization, the crew's optical vision systems were replaced with modern systems. In this way, the crew's ability to perform day and night duty in all weather conditions was improved. In addition, overhauling of the vehicles was also carried out and the quality of the installation was increased, making the vehicles more reliable both structurally and mechanically.
