TUBITAK Rail Transport Technologies Institute (RUTE), Türkiye Rail System Vehicles Industry Inc. (TÜRASAŞ), Marmara University and SDM Research & Engineering company developed the Original Diesel Engine Family.

21 academicians, 65 engineers took part in the project and a data center with more than 600 engines was created. As a result of intensive and comprehensive studies in the project, which started four years ago, the Original Motor Family project, which can meet the needs of TCDD Transportation, was produced.  In the continuation of the project, which has a 90% domestic rate, new engines with different usage areas and power ratios will be produced. 

The first ceremony of the Özgün Motor Family, T.R.  Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, It was held with the participation of Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu, President of TUBITAK Hasan Mandal, project stakeholders Republic of Türkiye State Railways (TCDD) Inc., TÜRASAŞ, Marmara University and SDM.
