China Coast Guard (CCG) has equipped its lead Type 818 vessel with a 76 mm PJ-26 naval gun as its primary weapon and the Type 630 30 mm close-in weapon system (CIWS). The system's primary purpose is defense against anti-ship missiles and other precision guided weapons as well as fixed or rotary wing aircraft, small vessels, coastal targets and floating mines. Designed based on Jiangkai II-class (Type 054A) frigates, Type 818 vessels are 134 meters in length, 16 meters at the beam, 3900 tons, and can reach a maximum speed of 27 knots.
