New System in partnership with Stellantis and Archer

Automaker Stellantis announced that it will produce electric “air taxis” developed by US aerospace company Archer at the major Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

In a statement from the company, it was stated that Stellantis will invest $150 million in Archer and its vertical take-off and landing aircraft (electric vertical take-off and landing / eVTOL) designed to carry four passengers in addition to the pilot.

The partnership allows Archer to accelerate aircraft production expected to begin in 2024. In addition, thanks to Stellantis’ expertise, the US company is expected to save costs during production growth. Archer’s co-founder and Managing Director Adam Goldstein said at the press briefing that Archer could initially produce 650 aircraft per year, then this number could rise to 2,300 per year. Stellantis Managing Director Carlos Tavares said in a statement that he was constantly impressed by Archer’s creativity and unwavering commitment to delivery.

Archer Vice President Louise Bristow told AFP last year that she envisions an era of aerial ridesharing, which Archer describes as “the Uber or Lyft of the sky.”
