Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is due to visit France next week, according to the Al-Sharq website. News of Sisi’s visit followed a €4 billion Dassault Rafale bomber deal.
French newspaper La Tribune reported that the sale of one observation satellite and two Airbus MRTT aircraft to Egypt was also on the agenda following the deal.
Meanwhile, the question of whether there will be a deal for the Scorpene 2000-class submarine and the electric submarine SMX-31, proposed by the French firm Naval Group for the Egyptian Navy, is also on the agenda. Egyptian authorities have held three meetings with naval group executives in recent months to discuss the purchase of Scorpene 2000-class submarines.
