February 21, 2017New Gen Triumf: “Prometheus”
Russia announced the next generation S-500 'Prometey' (Prometheus) air defense system prototype's launch date as 2020. Designed by Almaz Antei Design Bureau and based on S-400 Triumf air defence systems, S-500 anti-aircraft and anti-ballistic missiles will have a range of 600 kilometers. Prometey will also be able to intercept simultaneously up to ten ballistic and hypersonic missiles traveling at a speed of up to 7 kilometers per second at an altitude of up to 200 kilometers.
