The U.S. Armed Forces have announced new developments regarding the GE T408 turboshaft engine it has integrated into the Chinook helicopter.
Equipped with a GE engine that is more powerful than the current CH-53K King Stallion engine, the platform has completed a total of 18 ground tests since 2019.
The helicopter’s flight test program was carried out at three different gross weight configurations, maximum torque and speeds of up to 140 knots.
“The integration of more powerful engines into the H-47 Chinook will support future aircraft capability and modernization efforts,” Boeing said.
