Russia-based Sevmash Shipyard is going into modular construction in submarine construction to minimize the margin of error caused by the human factor and provide cost effective solutions. Along with modular technology, Sevmash plans to reduce the submarine's sled construction time.

“The new technology was launched in 2016 under the supervision of Sevmash CEO Mikhail Budnichenko. The task force was created and a project was launched to move to modular technology in the construction of the next generation of submarines,” the enterprise said.

The modular structure allows the consolidation of platform parts in line with various configurations in the field.

Sevmash Shipyard is preparing to introduce modular technology in the construction of nuclear submarines; the issue is on the agenda of the relevant ministries.
