MiG-29 Offer by Russia to Turkey

The recent military and political convergence between Russia and Turkey signaled a new period. The most concrete example of the convergence of the two countries will be exhibited at the International Defense Industry Fair, IDEF'17, according to the information obtained by C4Defence before the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Russia. The joint Russian display at IDEF’17 attended by Rosoboronexport and JSC “Concern “Almaz Antey” will showcase a total of 240 pieces of military equipment.

“General Manager of Rosoboronexport” Aleksandr Miheyev said: “Turkey is one of Rosoboronexport’s crucial partners. We are in consultations on a number of the most promising defence projects of mutual benefit.” 

The developing Turkey-Russia relations will be seen through the exhibited air defence products. These include various products other than the S-400 Triumph, which has long been a subject to negotiations between the two countries. Some of the products to be displayed at the Russian stand will be TOR-M2KM missile defence system, PANTSIR-S1 air defence missile and artillery system and İGLA-S portable anti-aircraft system for the interest of Turkish customers, as well as MiG-29M2 tactical combat aircraft for Turkish Air Force officials.

Rosoboronexport, ARENA-E active protection system for the TSK, armored vehicle protection systems such as dynamic protection systems, KORNET-E anti-tank fuselage and Kalashnikov automatic firearms in various modifications.

Rosoboronexport’s officials believe that the greatest popularity with the Turkish Land Forces will be enjoyed by the armored vehicle protection assets including the Arena-E active protection system, Kornet-E antitank missile system and various Kalashnikov rifles.
