Following the announcement of the platform to replace the UH-1s in the Air Force inventory, the USA made its final decision in the process of AHTS (Advanced Helicopter Training System).
The winner was Leonardo in the scope of the AHTS Program, which was launched for the replace the TH-57B / C Sea Ranger helicopters in the Navy inventory. Within the scope of deliveries planned to start in 2022, a total of 32 TH-73As will enter the American Navy inventory. The platforms, the deliveries of which will be completed in 2024, will take place in the training of the US Navy, the Coast Guard, the Marine Corps and the pilots of friendly and allied countries until the end of the 2050s.
The TH-73A, which won the tender with the participation of Airbus production H135 and Bell 407GXi helicopters, will be manufactured in Leonardo's facilities in Philedelphia, where it also produces civil AW119s. In the tender amounting to USD 176.5 million, the USA also has 98 options. If this option is implemented, the total contract cost; It will rise to 648.1 million USD.
