February 20, 2018Last Tests Before Low-rate Initial Production
The US Army is testing the new generation Joint Air-to-Ground Missile before it achieves low-rate initial production decision.
The tests are being conducted by Yuma and Redstone Test Centres. The JAGM can be guided by using semi-active laser or radio frequency and the modes can be switched within seconds in-flight if needed. During the tests, four vehicles were fitted with remote control kits to create multiple moving targets at once. Though the operational test is now complete, further developmental testing, including integrating new software to support the JAGM into the Apache, will continue.
