In addition to the replacing and modernising old vehicles, the Chinese Army continues high-tech weapon studies. China published a tender invitation for laser weapon at official procurement authority, weain.mil.cn.

The announcement made from the People's Liberation Army of China under the “Laser Weapon Pod Procurement Tender Invitation” title. There is no detailed information about procurement program. In defense lobbies, it is talking that the  China may have created an invitation to tender for a laser weapon pod for aircraft.

The US has announced the studies for aircraft laser-pod last year. At present, the work on laser generators has made it closer to the goal of combat aircraft to incorporate more advanced firepower with laser weapon pods.
