Munich-based land systems manufacturer KNDS Germany showcased its new drone command module “Boxer UxV CS” for the Boxer wheeled armored vehicle at the Enforce Tac 2026 exhibition. The KNDS Boxer UxV CS system is designed to simplify command and control on next-generation unmanned platforms. The new module was developed to integrate unmanned aerial and ground vehicles into mobile combat control.
According to a report by Hartpunkt, the Boxer UxV CS module does not perform the transportation or deployment of unmanned systems; it focuses solely on their command and control. With the KNDS Boxer UxV CS, it is envisaged that specialized carrier platforms (such as a UxS mothership) or alternative logistics solutions will be used to deploy unmanned vehicles to the field. KNDS notes that final use will be shaped according to future operational doctrines and that different concepts can be applied in a hybrid manner.
Operator Stations and System Compatibility
In the mission area located at the rear of the module, there are five identical operator stations. These stations allow simultaneous control of different unmanned systems or missions. The Boxer UxV CS, which has a manufacturer-independent structure, can be equipped with:
- KNDS’s own drone command and mission planning system,
- Software from different providers,
- Systems developed by armed forces themselves.
Thanks to this flexibility, the KNDS Boxer UxV CS module aims to enable a single operator to manage multiple air and ground systems from different manufacturers simultaneously.
Communication and Operational Capability
The module is equipped with mast and antenna systems reaching 4 to 6 meters in height to optimize communication range and data flow. With satellite communication support, the module can manage drone operations while on the move. In addition, operational capability can be enhanced through KNDS Boxer UxV CS integration. However, it is noted that communication stability and range may vary depending on physical factors such as terrain conditions.
