KF-X’s First Engine Delivered

The first engine was delivered in the KF-X (Korean Fighter-eXperimental) fifth-generation aircraft project developed with a joint subsidiary of the Republic of Korea and Indonesia. General Electric (GE) Aviation announced that the program has delivered its first F414-GE-400K engine.

Ge Aviation is scheduled to deliver 15 engines by 2021 in the KF-X project, which is the main contractor of the Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI).

A total of 168 aircraft will be produced, 48 of which will be exported to Indonesia, while the remaining 120 platforms will enter the Korean inventory. GE Aviation will deliver a total of 240 F414-GE-400K engines.

The first prototype of the KF-X program is intended to be built in 2021.

The project was launched in January 2016 with a budget of USD 7.3 billion.
