According to the news in the Pakistani press, the new customer of JF-17 Thunder aircraft will be Iraq.
Within the scope of the agreement, which is planned to be signed soon, Iraq will procure 12 JF-17 Block III aircraft, which are jointly produced by Pakistan and China.
At the defense fair held in Baghdad in April 2021, the JF-17 attracted great interest from Iraqi officials.
The aircraft has a 23 mm GSh-23-2 cannon, which is also used in Mig-21 and HAL Tejas aircraft.
The JF-17 is capable of using a wide variety of munitions, air-to-air and air-to-surface, manufactured by China.
These munitions include the PL-5 and SD-10 air-to-air missiles, and the C-701 and C-802 air-to-surface missiles.
