The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Navy (IRGCN) took delivery of the first party of Nasir anti-ship missile during a ceremony held on 22 April and attended by the defense chief, Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan, and IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi. Iranian Defence Minister Hossein Dehghan stated that Nasir has an advanced radar system with anti-jamming capabilities as well as a quick targeting ability which would serve increasing the country’s defensive capability and deterrence power.
The cruise missile was test fired during the “Valayat 95” Iranian military drills in the Persian Gulf in February 2017. Iranian and US Navies experience frequent encounters in the Persian Gulf.
