Indian Police forces placed an order for 7.62 x 39 mm Assault Rifle developed by Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli, which can be described as an indigenous version of legendary Russian AK-47. General Manager of the company, G. Sundara Moorthy, said the rifle was on par with advanced AK-47 rifles in performance and reliability, and they were expecting more further orders from orther armed forces following Chhattisgarh Police's procurement. 

Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli has manufactured these rifles in fixed butt, side-foldable butt and under-folding variants. All the models can be mounted with a 40mm under-barrel grenade launcher. Automatic, maintenance-free, the rifle can fire 600 rounds bullets per minute.
