India Simplifies Procurement Procedures

Indian Defence Ministry has relaxed its procurement norms to encourage developing private-sector companies to participate in military tenders. The Defence Acquisition Council introduced significant changes in the ‘Make II’ category of the Defence Procurement Procedure, allowing even start-ups to develop equipment for the Indian Armed Forces. As per the procedure, no government funding is involved in production and the development process should be funded by domestic industry.
