The negotiations between India and Russia regarding manufacturing of some spares for Russian-made aircraft assembled in India has almost finalised according to official sources. As it takes very long time to deliver spares from Russia due to bureaucratic process, Russia wants to establish a logistics center for Su-30MKI aircraft at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s (HAL’s) facility in Bangalore in order to supply spares locally. A relevant contract is expected to be signed in March this year, which is believed to significantly improve the availability of Su-30s.
Indian Air Force currently operates more than 200 Su-30MKI’s and will receive additional aircraft from Russia by 2019.
